The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund is a financial assistance program to help water systems and states to achieve the health protection objectives of the Safe Drinking Water Act. This is funding set aside to specifically address removal of lead service lines. As per EPA, forty-nine percent (49%) of this funding must be provided to disadvantaged communities as grants or principal forgiveness loans which can provide a pathway for underserved communities that might not otherwise have access to funding for water infrastructure upgrades.
