The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund is a financial assistance program to help water systems and states to achieve the health protection objectives of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Set aside to specifically address emerging contaminants, such as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). As per EPA, twenty-five percent (25%) of this funding must be provided to disadvantaged communities or communities less than 25,000 in population as grants or principal forgiveness loans which can provide a pathway for underserved communities that might not otherwise have access to funding for water infrastructure upgrades.
