The Carbon Reduction Program implements projects designed to reduce transportation emissions. In consultation with the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), the State developed a Carbon Reduction Strategy that identifies specific transportation related projects and strategies that CDOT and the MPOs will fund through the Carbon Reduction Program. At the time the strategy was developed, MPOs had awarded over $22M in Carbon Reduction Program Funds to projects directly benefiting CEJST disadvantaged communities, including sidewalks and bicycle facilities in Aurora, Bus Rapid Transit on Colfax Ave, planning for multi-modal transportation in Commerce City, protected bike facilities in Thornton, bus stop amenities in Federal Heights, and a multi-modal trail in Pueblo.
