San Miguel Authority for Regional Transportation will buy buses to replace existing vehicles that have exceeded their useful life and expand service throughout the region. San Miguel Authority (SMART) serves numerous communities with access to public transportation and van pools essential for the area workforce, including Nucla, Montrose and several mobile home parks all of which are considered disproportionately impacted communities. Access to higher paying jobs via the SMART vanpool program is essential to narrowing the wage gap for these populations. Two expansion 40' buses will provide a new fixed-route service between Telluride and Montrose, a disadvantaged community as per CEJST.
